The Power Of Words In Social Media – Interview with Stine Hals from Aschehoug

We have had a chat with Stine Friis Hals, Digital Consultant at Aschehoug – one of the largest  independent publishing companies in Norway. They use our modules, Publisher and Ads, for  publishing posts (respectively organic and paid) in social media – more specifically Facebook  and Instagram.

In the world of books, we are used to big words about feelings, knowledge, and  communication and Stine is, as expected, a lady who speaks in capital letters, and has strong opinions. We are excited to hear about her relationship with our platform: Hate or love, or is there something in between? SoMe expert Stine says that Aschehoug has used the  24SevenSocial platform since 2018, but she heard about it when she was working part-time at  Westerdals Oslo School of Arts, Communication and Technology. There were several reasons  for this choice.

Even though we probably are a small customer, we experience being very well taken care of in every possible way!

First of all, it is an advantage that it is a Norwegian-developed platform, and even though we probably are a small customer, we experience being very well taken care of in every possible way! Secondly, we get quick feedback, and if I request certain missing functions, I am  listened to, and my wishes are often implemented in the solution. (software?) Availability is  also very important when the many daily tasks are to be solved.

For me, it’s about saving time. Both Publisher and Ads help me to do my job as efficiently as possible!

When asking which problems 24SevenSocial have solved, she continues engaged,  though somewhat frustrated, in her characteristic dialect: There are lots of challenges with  having many SoMe accounts that require different types of posts, at different times, and for different target groups. A time consuming and manual work – despite Facebook’s Business  Manager which far from satisfied our needs. Hate it, a true nightmare! She takes a deep breath before talking about the benefits of 24SevenSocial:

Two words: simplicity and efficiency! For me, it’s about saving time. Both Publisher and Ads help me to do my job as efficiently as possible, in the sense of being able to plan,  create many posts at the same time, and publish them through different channels. From the  exact same platform! Having hundreds of annual book releases and as many authors, there is  plenty of content to tell the social world about … And we have new posts on Facebook almost  every day, on Instagram often twice a day.

You know, what has proven to be very popular is what we call Forfattersamtale (Talk  with an Author), a 20-minute long post! In our digital and social world where you only have seconds to capture the audience, it is quite «ballsy» to pay for a post that lasts for almost half  an hour, right?! Of course, not everyone watches the entire post, but it is amazing how many  people drop by in a shorter or longer time, and the feedback is overwhelming!

You must pay for visibility, and therefore it is important to have an overview, see key figures, be able to easily transfer funds from one active campaign to another (especially when you have small budgets).

Stine lightens up and goes on: You must pay for visibility, and therefore it is important to have an overview, see key figures, be able to easily transfer funds from one active campaign to another (especially when you have small budgets).

In short: a nice and clear overview that  the Ads module provides us with.

I just love the URL shortener more and more! Love that I can shorten these endless links and change the look in  case I want to share links containing many books and authors, for example a post about bestselling titles.

Are there any other functions or modules you use, that you want to mention? We do  not have to ask Stine twice:

I use Insight to extract numbers for our quarterly reports, and I just love the URL shortener more and more! Love that I can shorten these endless links and change the look in  case I want to share links containing many books and authors, for example a post about bestselling titles. Then I can easily change the link so that «my» author’s photo shows, even if he or she was not the winning author of the original post. You can also see the number of clicks  on these links, of course.

Finally – is there anything you miss or something that could have been improved?  – Definitely, yes! I miss the Thursday Support where I could come visit you guys at the office in  Oslo and get the help I needed, and I also miss the monthly blog posts with new updates – I  guess Corona has to take the blame. All in all, I am super happy with the 24SevenSocial  platform, and your service! Although I always keep an eye on alternative solutions, I still have  not found a good enough reason to change a winning story. No questions asked!

Thank you, Stine, for taking the time. We look forward to following the future publishing  story of Aschehoug, both in social, and printed media.
