Facebook updated the types of posts people are likely to see

For Facebook it’s crucial that you find your News Feed interesting, and display your post in the best way possible. Because of this, Facebook is constantly tweaking their News feed Algorithm.

Every day Facebook picks around 1500 posts that they think are relevant for you as a user. A highly sophisticated algorithm is constantly running in the background, trying to determine what’s the most relevant content that should go into your News Feed. Everything from which profiles you view the most, what links you click, what you like and comment on, and of course the pages you like – all goes into this algorithm.

Just last week they made some adjustments that all brands should be aware of. Because it updates the way it prioritizes brands’ content in the feed.

It’s also a big hint from Facebook to how they think brands should use their Page to create engagement and tell their stories.

In short. It’s all about media. Visuals. Pictures. Videos.

While Facebook found that people engage more with their friends’ status updates with just text, they actually found the opposite when they looked at company Page posts with high engagement.

And because of that they’ve now changed their algorithm to prioritize Page posts with link pictures, pictures and videos higher than just text.

And that’s kind of a big deal. Because that means that if you’re used to write just plain text updates you will reach far less people than you’ve used to.

You need to prioritize media now. You need to tell your story on Facebook in a much more visual way than before.
